Sail Halong

About Sail Halong

Sail Halong is an independent set of guides to cruising Halong Bay, Lan Ha Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. We help you make one decision well: which trip fits you, and why.

What we do

We track the things that don’t change with the tide: the three bays and their crowd levels, the seasons and their numbers, the logistics from Hanoi, and the criteria that actually decide a good trip from a rushed one. Every figure we publish comes with a source and a date, drawn from primary references like the Vietnamese climate normals and the UNESCO World Heritage record, not from marketing copy.

How a guide is made

Every page starts in an approved topic map built from real search demand and a distinct reader decision. Before drafting, we compare the current search results, separate useful editorial pages from booking widgets and collect primary sources for facts. A new query can suggest research, but it cannot create a page by itself.

Automation and AI assist with research organization, outlines, drafting and mechanical checks. They are not treated as sources and do not get to invent experience. A page must still pass checks for evidence, repeated phrasing, internal links, accessibility, mobile use, performance and the claims we deliberately refuse to make. If those checks fail, the page does not publish.

How guides stay current

Sources carry a checked date and a future review date. Published guides are checked again for indexing, search performance and useful booking clicks after 7, 30, 60 and 90 days. Broken links and technical errors can be repaired automatically. Editorial recommendations, booking destinations and substantial rewrites remain decisions that need evidence and approval.

What we deliberately don’t do

We don’t quote prices, and we don’t describe or score the specific boats behind our links. That’s on purpose. Prices and inclusions change by the season and belong to the seller, so we’d rather send you to the current number than publish a stale one. It also keeps our advice about the destination, which we can verify, rather than about a product, which we can’t. When we mention what a category of cruise typically includes, we say so and add the same reminder we’d give a friend: verify it when you book.

How we make money

Sail Halong earns a commission when you book through GetYourGuide links, at no extra cost to you. Our articles are independent and we make no claims about the products behind the links. Verify price and inclusions when you book. That commission is the only thing we earn, and it never changes what we recommend. If a format or a plan isn’t right for you, we say so before the link, not after.

Who writes this

The guides are written and maintained by the Sail Halong editorial team, with the process above doing part of the production work. That is an institutional byline, not a fictional traveler. We don’t invent first-person experiences or attribute quotes to travelers who don’t exist; where we describe a recurring pattern, it’s one we’ve seen across real reviews, and we say so. When we get something wrong, we fix it and update the date only when the page has materially changed.
